The book is about Stanley and Katrina, their relationship with each other, and oh my eucalyptus the food they eat! More about that later. As they are a dog and cat, they have a, well, complicated relationship. It starts with them asking each other what their name might be in a letter. Their relationship builds over time. There's this part where it's snowing, and Stanley decides to go play in it, and Katrina decides to watch him. Stanley does what dogs do, stuff like burrowing and playing fetch. Katrina narrates and is continually interrupted by a bird named Mandy. It is very funny.
As for my thoughts on the book, it was quite good. The dialogue was excellent and the way that they were never quite friends was shown perfectly. On the other hand, what is this 'kibble' that Stanley speaks of??? At first I didn't think it was a word, so I looked it up. Apparently, it refers to a type of hard dog food. It looks terrible. And Katrina's definition of gourmet--I can't even speak of it. You'll have to read it yourself. All I'm saying is that they should try some eucalyptus.
I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend it vigorously to all ages.
